Burger King On International Children's Day: "Hitting Your Children Is Necessary"

by Drew Valdez

-- Burger King U.K. came under fire yesterday after tweeting “Women belong in the kitchen” on International Women’s Day. The tweet was meant to be a start of a thread explaining how female chefs are underrepresented in the food industry, but since everyone has become soft like snowflakes the tweet was met with immediate criticism and outrage.

Even after explaining themselves, hundreds of thousands of the offended took to Twitter to say that the company was perpetuating the cliche gender stereotype. “There’s no other way that tweet could be interpreted!” said a woman as she posted a picture of herself flipping off her local Burger King.

The chicken fry proprietor did not shy away from being equally as clever on International Children’s Day as the fast-food chain tweeted: “Hitting Your Children Is Necessary.”

Burger King explained in a follow up tweet, “Hitting your children with a few sprays of sunscreen before being exposed to the sun is vitally necessary to help prevent sunburn and more importantly, skin cancer.”
