-- Several businesses that were forced to close their doors because they were deemed non-essential have been preparing for their first day back once the pandemic ends. This includes Michaels, the popular national chain craft store. We were able to speak with Lisa Montgomery, store manager at a Pasadena location.

“We’re so excited to have a full re-opening,” Lisa said as she dusted off some easels. “But I’m expecting total chaos. I mean our total number of shoppers in-store at one time is expected to jump from five to ten people. That’s a 50% increase!”

Montgomery continues, “That’s why I just hired 75 new staff members and contracted armed security for crowd control. We also added ‘walk slowly’ signs throughout the entire store and set up those sprinkler cooling stations for when customers wait in line.”

When asked how intense the preparations have been, one staff member we spoke to said, “I was U.S. Army Special Forces for 13 years and no training I completed while I served comes close to the rigorous training Lisa’s been putting us through.”

There are currently six people camped out in front of the store, so make sure to head on over with your tent to secure your spot in line and be one of the first to experience Michaels at its regular capacity once again.
