Washington Football Team Adopts Unofficial Nickname: Redskins (Unrelated To Teams History)

by Kyle Robinson

-- The Washington Football Team (WFT) has had trouble garnering much enthusiasm from effectively not having a team name and no mascot during the first nine weeks of the 2020 season. Contrary to popular belief, fans HAVE been allowed to Attend WFT games all year despite Covid, but have voluntarily not attended due to ‘no spirit.’

Some fans with a knowledge of the origins of teams from specific regions such as the Boston Braves (currently the Atlanta Braves) wanted to pay homage to the natives of the region. The nickname “Redskins” was born for week nine of the 2020 season!

“We have great respect for the native tribes from where the team began, especially for one of the team’s greatest coaches.” The reference refers to Head Coach William Henry “Lone Star” Dietz who was part Sioux.

The Native Americans of the region celebrated the nickname and became new fans of the team. “We have never felt more recognized or honored!”

Team owner Dan Snyder said in an interview “This is just what we need! An honorable name to give this organization spirit!” as he said wearing a giant feather hat given to him by the Sioux tribe.

The name is being considered to be the official mascot after some respectable play in recent weeks while using the nickname.
